5 Good Reasons to see Chris Martin & Taylor Edwards in BangNation

1. Puppies are our number 1 demographic

What can we say? Puppies love our style of comedy, possibly because we perform like insane loveable puppies. Our venue has a strict no pets policy so you should see us and tell your pets how good it was! They want to know.

2. We have the number 1 animal costume in show business

Part of comedic magic comes from our shitty glorious props and costumes – we have one sketch where the animal costume is so realistic you’ll be thinking “Hey I thought I was at a comedy show
not a zoo! What’s going on here?”

3. We eat a lot of Vietnamese cuisine

Vietnamese cuisine is delicious, fresh and made with love. We eat so much of it that it rubbed off on us. The results speak for themselves, BangNation is well seasoned and pho-tastic!

4. The show is genuinely good and funny

We are very proud of our crazy little show and we love performing it for anyone who lets us. One night, some guy described our stage chemistry as the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp, so that’s pretty cool! Reviews have described this show as genuinely funny, with a dorky charm mixed with the hyperactive absurdity of Sam Simmons. Hell yeah!

5. BangNation is a celebration of the style of comedy that bought Chris and Taylor together

That’s right! We’re a couple. We met doing improvised comedy together years ago in Brisbane and have a love affair with fast-paced, absurd comedy. BangNation is our celebration of the joy that can be found in the silliness of life and in each other.

Chris Martin & Taylor Edwards perform BangNation The Downstairs Lounge at The Grand Mercure Hotel,  Mar 24 – Apr 3

Five Good Reasons to see Tegan Higginbotham in The City of Love

1.    It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than actually going to Paris:

It’s been a lifelong dream of Tegan’s to visit La ville de l’amour, and in The City of Love she’ll take you there with her totally wonderful mouth-words (which is kind of the same as going on an actual holiday but you don’t have to stop over in Kuala Lumpar to experience it)

2.    Tegan answers the long disputed question
Why does Paris smell like wee?

Because it does. It really does. And Tegan has figured out why.

3.    Tegan’s performing 10 shows to celebrate 10 years of MICF!

The City of Love marks a decade of Comedy Festivals for Tegan. And after a limited preview season, many agree that Higginbotham is most certainly at the top of her game. So make sure you catch The City of Love, because going by that logic it’s all downhill from here.

4.    It’s her Birthday on the 25thof March and she’s putting on a special Birthday show.

So
 you know
you’re kind of a monster if you don’t come.

5.    She doesn’t talk in third person throughout the show

Unlike here, where she’s clearly trying to create the illusion that someone else has had a hand in putting this list together. They haven’t. It’s Tegan writing this. Hello.

So I guess I should finish by adding, on behalf of Tegan, that she’s had a hell of a fun time putting this show together (In fact, it’s her favorite show yet) and she’d love for you to come along. That said, she’s also aware there are some other great shows on this year from comedians including (but CLEARLY not limited to) Liam Ryan, Victoria Healy, Justin Hamilton, Rama Nicholas, Nath Valvo, WATSON (a group with which she has absolutely no vested interest), Laura Davis, and Sammy J & Randy. More than anything, just make sure you have a good Festival.

From,

Nameless Individual (who is definitely not Tegan)

5 Good Reasons to see Damien Vosk in The Average

1. It’s Damien Vosk’s first full standup show so regardless if it’s a success or absolute disaster it will be fun to watch!

2. The Average may teach you how to pass yourself off as normal, whatever that means!

3. The show contains jokes many of which will make you laugh.

4. It will answer questions you never even knew you had about topics of potential relevance.

5. You may convince Damien’s parent’s he’s not wasting his life!

Damien Vosk’s The Average is on at The Improv Conspiracy Office

5 Good Reasons to see Improv Against Humanity

1. You are obsessed with or even mildly amused by the card game Cards Against Humanity

2. If you are any kind of Geek, Nerd or Weirdo.

3. You have a sick obsession with yelling out politically incorrect suggestions at regular improv comedy nights and need to exorcise these demons.

4. You enjoy comedy that not only walks the line but trips the pedestrian and curb-stomps them to the ground.

5. If you’re bad to the boner.

5 Good REASONS [NOT] TO SEE BUTT KAPINSKI

1) You’ve heard that BUTT KAPINSKI breaks rules, straddles genres, and is an entirely new kind of comedic experience, and you would really rather stick with something safe and familiar.

2) You’re easily offended.

3) Women probably can’t make you laugh, although it is cute when they try.

4) You think that performers should pretend that a thick impenetrable wall separates you from them, and you like it this way. It’s like watching a movie only you still had to put on trousers and leave your house. Probably you’d prefer to stay home and watch a movie, now that you think of it. Less trousers!

5) There’s a creme brulee party on at the same time. I’d skip my own show for a creme brulee party!

Butt Kapinski is on at The Tuxedo Cat

5 Good Reasons to see Jen Carnovale Wronger Than You

1. It’s a stand up comedy show! Which is super hard to find in Melbourne in April.

2. Hate kids? Great, none are allowed in, so you can have an hour child free and watch stand up.

3. It’s on at the Bull & Bear Tavern which has loads of great shows on so you can be lazy, and stay in the same seat watching shows forever! Or until the bar closes.

4. It’s on at 7pm, the perfect time to finish work, get happy tipsy and watch comedy. No angry tipsy people allowed.

5. Jen’s shows have been described as ‘“Outstanding razor-sharp slices of observational comedy” by Funny Women UK, “Gifted with wonderful timing and a lovely line in accents” by Australian Stage and she was selected as one of ‘The New Faces To Watch’ by the Herald Sun at last years MICF, but don’t trust these stoopid words on a page, come watch the actual show and decide if these people are right.

Jen Carnovale performs Wronger Than You at The Bull & Bear Tavern from April 5
