5 Good Reasons to see Improvilicious – The Improvised Guide to Spooky Stories

1. It’s at a highly convenient location and time for a school holiday activity (Melbourne Town Hall, 2.00pm).

2. It’s scary in a good way.

3. You get to shout out audience suggestions.

4. The entire team of performers and producers is from Perth and we all have dogs.

5. It’s the only kid-friendly improvisation-based show in the Festival (improvisation without swearing or sexual references is TWICE AS IMPRESSIVE and FOUR TIMES AS FUNNY).

Improvilicious – The Improvised Guide to Spooky Stories is on at Melbourne Town Hall from March 28 to April 12

5 Good reasons to see Basic Bitchcraft

1. The Music – The coven takes the best and most well known Witch-centric songs and gives them a full girl band revamp, Including songs by Fleetwood Mac, Miley Cyrus & more.

2. The Witches – Not only are the witches talented as all hell, they are also POWERFUL beyond belief.

3. The Magic – Throughout the show you’ll learn a few little pagan spells and rituals mixed with some stage magic to help you in your day to day life.

4. The Fashion – Heavy eye liner, Gothic chokers, big pointy black nails, enough said

5. The Message – For centuries the title ‘Witch’ has been used to oppress and accuse powerful women who opposed the patriarchal way of life, this coven is here to take back that title and wear it with pride!

Basic Bitchcraft is on at The MC Showroom from April 8 to 12

5 Good Reasons to See Bunkasaurus

1. There are just way too many circus shows for kids out there. And too many shows with princesses, or dinosaurs, or frozen dinosaurs that look like princesses. Bunkasaurus is trying to buck the trend. No dinosaurs. No princesses. Also, no treehouses or things named “
uffalo”. And no snot, or farts, or vomit. It’s bold, innovative, and cutting edge risky.

2. We’ve got 3D shadow puppetry. It’s useless trying to explain it to you. Like trying to explain the smell after rain, or the ringing in your ears after another heroine’s soaring ballad in an animated film from Hollywood. Useless trying. Come see our 3D shadow puppets and then spend time trying to pop your eyeballs back in their sockets.

3. We strike a delicate balance between eye candy, hilarity, and “
awwwww”.

4. There’s stuff in the show for the young kids, the medium kids, the large kids and the grown-ups
 just no princesses or dinosaurs.

5. On request, we’ll happily improvise a dinosaur or princess shadow puppet for you. Disclaimer: you’ll need to show us how.

Bunkasaurus is on at The Malthouse from March 28 to April 11

5 good reasons to see RHYMEZONE: Good On Ya Mum, Hip-Hop’s The One

1. Every RHYMEZONE show is completely improvised which means you get to help shape the show. Going off your suggestion, we will craft a hip-hop musical on the spot (think Hamilton). This also means that every night is different! Which means you could come see every one of our shows and they will all be different! In fact you should come see our show every night just to make sure they are all different.

2. This isn’t your father’s improvised comedy. This one has beats. It also has us being forced to freestyle at the drop of a hat. So for the masochists out there come and enjoy watching us having to suddenly rap about the main exports of Tunisia, for everyone else just come and be amazed by our freestyle ability.

3. RHYMEZONE is made up of best friends Cristina “Rhyme” Spizzica and Jeremy “Zone” Hughes, and look, we’re pretty sweet and endearing. Wholesomeness is our brand and if we haven’t charmed the socks off of you by the end of the show then we will happily physically remove your socks for you no questions asked!

4. This show is very loosely themed around bread. And we mean very loosely in that it will be referenced at the top of the show and then never again. But everyone loves bread! Even celiacs, although in their case bread just doesn’t love them back. So come to the show and fly your bread flag high. There will be prizes for best bread costume every night (there won’t be, please don’t come dressed as bread expecting a prize).

5. One of the main reasons anyone takes a punt on a show is how punny the name is. And this show has a very punny name. The title is actually quite clever in that its pun plays off the well-known bread advertisement slogan: “Good on ya Mum! Tip Top’s the One!” and twists it to reflect the freestyle hip-hop musical nature of our show with “Good on ya Mum! Hip Hop’s the One!”. So come and see the show based on the amount of effort that was put into the name (which was a lot). It’s the yeast you can do.

Good On Ya Mum, Hip-Hop’s The One is on at TIC Swanston from March 25 to April 5

5 Good Reasons to See Tarun Mohanbhai in Uber Funny

1. Its an Indian man talking about his experience as an Uber Driver almost an anomaly in this day and age.

2. You could learn how to make that average 4.45 rating into a 5.0 (Preferred Passenger status)

3. It’s on a 9:45 pm so enough time to go on 2 tinder dates after work and have a laugh at the end of the evening at all the dumb things you said on those dates.

4. Think Taxi Driver meets Falling Down meets Gandhi

5. It will help cover my costs for my life long dream to go to Fountain Lakes Shopping Mall.

Uber Funny is on at Tasma Terrace from March 24 to 30

5 Good Reasons to See Alex Keen & Tess Birch in Corporate Social (Ir)responsibility

1. Alex is from Bundaberg, Tess is from Brighton. There’s gotta be something in that right?

2. We have jokes about house plants, dogs and coffee. Some comics would see these topics as off limits
but we like to take risks!

3. We’re pretty new to comedy but will probably be famous soon, make sure you can say you saw us first!

4. We both work full time corporate jobs, meaning we have extra motivation to put on a good show so that we can stop working full time corporate jobs!

5. The venue is the White Vault, part of Crowded in the Vaults. This means you can:

a. enjoy a scenic Aperol Spritz at Pilgrim Bar before, after and during* our show!

b. catch some other amazing acts before, after and during** our show!

* “during our show” we are the scenic (but before and after the river is nice).
** medical professionals recommend you see our show before you see another show during our show.

Corporate Social (Ir)responsibility is on at Crowded in the Vaults from April 6 to 19
